A brow lift is also called a forehead lift or browplasty and is a cosmetic type surgery that can help eliminate worry lines or wrinkles on the forehead and also elevate a drooping eyebrow.Brow lifts are common because it can change the whole look and appearance of the face. Wrinkles are very common across the forehead through the process of age and by eliminating them with a brow lift, it makes a patient look years younger. Many patients will combine eyelid surgery with a forehead or brow lift. There are a few different methods and procedures for one to achieve a brow lift.
A new state of art brow lift procedure has been developed by a Dr. Shapiro and it is known as the Silhouette Brow Lift method. A Silhouette Brow Lift consists of placing two sutures below where the hairline is and then bringing them out through the eyebrows. After they are brought out, they can be tightened to the desired level of tension for the needs of the brow lift. An additional benefit of this method is the ability to easily re-tighten these sutures years after the original brow lift and achieve good results again.
By going the direct brow lift route, a surgeon will remove a bit of skin and muscle that is right above the eyebrows. The scar or incision line is hidden by the brow hair. Most people having the direct brow lift done are older patients or males with extra thick eyebrow hair since it doesn’t really help as much with the wrinkles in the forehead.
Another form of a brow lift is the coronal forehead lift. This surgery requires making an incision from ear to ear across the forehead and lifting up or elevating the entire brow and forehead area.
And then there is the method called the endoscopic forehead lift. With this method of surgery, a surgical telescope is used to lift and elevate the brows and make the forehead more smooth and get rid of the wrinkles by making small cuts or incisions behind the hairline.
