Facial Fillers

What are Facial Fillers?

Facial fillers used by both men and women to restore a youthful appearance to aging skin and enhance important facial features, including lips, cheeks, and eyes. Often used in conjunction with other skin rejuvenation treatments, soft tissue facial fillers provide immediate, natural-looking results without the cost or required downtime of other facial cosmetic surgeries. They are a safe, cost effective way to enhance shallow facial contours or soften unsightly creases or wrinkles.

Procedure Overview

Facial filler injections can be completed in as little as 10 minutes. Topical anesthetics are applied prior to the start of most facial filler treatment. The injections can be mildly uncomfortable, so most patients often request anesthetics to numb the facial area that is receiving the treatment. Before the treatment begins, the surgeon will designate specific points on the face as injection sites – marking them with a dot. The filler gel is then injected under the skin using a very fine needle. The marks are then washed away, and ice packs applied to injection sites to reduce any immediate swelling or discomfort.

Recovering time after receiving facial fillers is minimal, and patients can resume normal daily activities immediately. For women, it is important to be careful to not apply too much pressure when putting on makeup the first few days following treatment, as excessive force may result in a shift or movement of the injected gel. Most patients will experience minimal amounts of swelling and bruising, but both should subside within a few days.

Are Facial Fillers right for you?

If you want to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, add volume to your lips, or enhance specific facial features, you might be a great candidate for facial fillers. They are a great treatment option for patients who want to rejuvenate their appearance and slow the aging process without major cosmetic surgery. Unlike other cosmetic procedures, facial fillers are not a permanent solution for skin enhancement. In order to maintain desired results, injections must be repeated every few months.
